International Piano Competition
Rules & guidelines
Choose your division, understand the rounds, and prepare the right performance before you register.
How the competition works
- 01
Start online
All entrants in Junior, Young Artist, Professional and Amateur submit an online Preliminary video. The jury selects finalists.
- 02
Enter one Final
Finalists compete online, in Hong Kong or in Seoul. Each Final has its own 1st–6th Prizes and Special Awards.
- 03
Winners’ Concert · Poland
Eligible prize winners may perform at Warsaw Philharmonic Concert Hall, with an awards ceremony and Grand Prize announcement.
Online, Hong Kong and Seoul are separate Finals. Your ranking belongs only to the Final you enter. The Winners’ Concert in Poland is the culminating performance and awards event, not another regional Final.

More than one entry?
You may enter every division for which you qualify, including Young Amateur alongside Junior or Young Artist. You may also enter both Solo and Concerto. Each division and performance category requires a separate application and fee.
Solo repertoire by division
- Perform the same piece in the Preliminary and Final, from memory.
- Approximately 1–5 minutes is recommended, not a strict limit. A suitable piece is not rejected solely for being slightly shorter or longer.
- A Chopin work is not required unless specified for a particular group.
For Piano Duo, contact the team to confirm the current repertoire and memorization requirements before registering.
Concerto repertoire & accompaniment
Junior, Young Artist, Professional and Amateur entrants perform one movement from any piano concerto in each required round.
Every concerto entry needs accompaniment
- Live piano accompaniment.
- Recorded piano or orchestral accompaniment.
- A recording with a live orchestra.
A solo-piano recording without the orchestral part is not accepted as a concerto entry.
Young Amateur also offers Concerto at US$100 per entry. Contact the team to confirm its specific repertoire requirements before preparing your performance.
Video & performance standards
- Record each piece as one continuous, unedited performance. Show the performer’s face, hands and full body clearly.
- Use an acoustic upright or grand piano for online performances. Recordings must be no more than six months old.
- Wear appropriate concert attire. The jury’s decisions are final.
Fees & refunds
Registration fees are non-refundable and cover the preliminary or single round only; entrants who qualify for a final round are charged separately for it. Fees do not cover travel, accommodation, or other personal expenses.
General conditions
- Awards reflect the jury’s collective evaluation. Prizes may be withheld or combined.
- Awards are issued as e-diplomas. Printed diplomas may be requested separately; handling and postage fees apply.
- Competition and concert recordings, photographs and videos may be used for archival and promotional purposes.
