Artists from four continents flew to Katowice to perform at the Winners Concert of the Chopin Avenue International Piano Competition and String Avenue International Competition – Wieniawski Edition together with Zabrze Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra in Zabrze, Poland on 1 July 2022.

Jane was born in Palembang (Indonesia). At the age of 6, she won her first gold award from the prestigious World Piano Teacher’s Association (WPTA) in Singapore and then clinched the Gold Award at Quatre Music Youth Piano Competition and Platinum Award at Royal Music Indonesia (RMI) Festival – Feurich in 2021.

In the latest addition to her success this year, she emerged as the 3rd Prize Winner in Concerto Category in her age group at Chopin Avenue International Piano Competition – Spring 2022.

Piano

Dennis, a seven years old student at Seattle Country Day School in Washington, USA. He started to learn piano when he turned five. As a student of Dr. Qian Yin, he was awarded I prize at 2021 Golden Classical Music Awards and a Grand Prize Virtuoso in his age group at 2021 International Music Competition Bonn and I prize at the Spring King’s Peak International Music Competition in 2022.

In Chopin Avenue International Piano Competition he was awarded II prize in Concerto Category in his age group.

Aaliyah Higashimori

Aaliyah Higashimori

Violin

born in 2012 in Japan, studied violin under Ms. Chise Makino, Ms. Mizuki Kato and Under Prof. Kirill Troussov and piano Under Mr. Tomoya Furuta. Since 2018, Awarded 28 First and Gold Prizes at 24 international music competitions and multiple special awards worldwide. Performed a Solo Recital at the Musikverein in Vienna as a 1st Prize Winner of the the Vienna Grand Prize Virtuoso International Music Competition.

He was awarded I prize in the String Avenue International Competition – Wieniawski Edition in Solo category and Best Performance of Concerto award in his age group in Spring 2022.

Azuna Onishi

Born in 2004 in Japan, currently attending Kogakkan high school and plays contrabass at BrassBand Club.
She received her first violin lesson at the age of 3, and first contrabass lessons at the age of 10. She had short term study abroad at Vienna and took violin lesson from Teodora Kasmetska-Sorokow. She has been studying contrabass from Syu Yoshida. Azuna was presented with a number awards at Osaka international music competition, Japan strings competition, Japan classical music competition, String Avenue Competition and more.

Sungwon Chae

Sungwon started to learn to play the piano when she was eight. She has been studying with Yuhye Moon since 2009 and began to perform at concerts and participate in international piano competitions. She was awarded III prize at the Mozart International Concours in Korea, II prizes at Eumaksekye Music Contes (2016) and National Music Competition of the Central Music Education Association (2021) among others.
She received III prize in Piano Concerto Category in her age group at Chopin Avenue International Piano Competition – Spring 2022.

Seungmin Gwak

Seungmin Gwak (Korea Południowa), fortepian
He started to learn piano when he was a child but decided to become a pianist when he was seventeen years old. Studying under Juhye Moon, he competed and was awarded II prize at the Mozart International Concours in South Korea.

He received II prize in Concerto Category in his age group at Chopin Avenue International Piano Competition 2022.

Yumin Cho

At the New Artist Concert held at Carnegie Hall in New York in February 2019, he was praised as “a performer who captures the public,” “a performer who stands out with attractive sounds and emotions,” “a performer who combines excellent interpretation skills,” and “a performer who knows difficult techniques to control strength.” Awarded 3rd prize in Korea Liszt Competition , 1st prize in Koreatimes Music Competition 2021, the grand prize from Yamasaki 22th Piano Competition 2018, 1st prize from Teenager Piano Competition 2019, 3rd prize from National Newspaper Hansei University Competition 2019, and several first prizes in the highly recognizable international piano competitions.

Sławomir Chrzanowski

Maestro

He conducted more than 70 orchestras all around the world, majority of which were Polish philharmonic and chamber orchestras (still cooperating with him), as well as with NOSPR (The Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra) in Katowice and Radio Symphony Orchestra in Krakow.

He visited USA several times to give concerts and open lectures on history of Polish music, as well as to lead master classes in composition at Northwestern University Chicago and
Mary Washington College in Fredericksburg. He has been an honored composer of MWC Symphony Orchestra in Fredericksburg (USA). In 2002 he performed on famous concert stages in U.S. – Carnegie Hall in New York and Orchestra Hall in Chicago.

In 1990 he was appointed the Managing and Artistic Director Dyrektora of the Zabrze Philharmonic that he has been in charge of until now. Together with the orchestra he has performed over 2800 concerts worldwide.
